FAQs-MusicCongratulations on completing your first lesson at JumboNote Music School! We extend to you a warm welcome and hope your musical journey will be one that is most enjoyable and that you achieve every success with your chosen instrument. We are committed in providing the best quality musical tuition experience available, and it is imperative that in doing so, we uphold certain policies to ensure a sound business practice. We kindly ask that you observe and respect our attendance policy, and abide by our terms and conditions. Below are some frequently asked questions which will help you understand our attendance policy, and hopefully answer any questions you may have regarding lessons at JumboNote Music School.


1. How much are lessons at JumboNote and what modes of membership are available?

Members paying term upfront: (secured spot – Discount rate)

30min /1 lesson per wk pay $320 – 2 instalments of $160 permitted ($32 per lesson rather than $35)

60min /2 lessons per wk $600 – 2 instalments of $300 permitted ($30 per lesson rather than $32)

90min / 3 lessons per wk $840 – 3 instalments of $280 permitted ($28 per lesson rather than $30)


Members paying weekly: (secured spot – Standard rate)

30min /1 lesson per wk $35.00 (totalling $350 each term)

60min /2 lessons per wk $64.00 (totalling $640 each term)

90min / 3 lessons per wk $90.00 (totalling $900 each term)


Casual lessons: (non secured spot – Premium rate)

30min /$40 per lesson


2. How often am I required to attend lessons?

JumboNote runs lessons during each school term, which normally have a duration of 10 weeks each. All members wanting to receive our membership rates are required to turn up to lessons each week per school term at their designated day and time. Please be aware that spots are limited at JumboNote Music School, and your designated lesson time occupies a teachers valuable time. Your attendance is expected and required each week, and failure to attend will result in you being charged for that missed lesson. If you cannot commit consistently to a weekly lesson, we strongly recommend you consider doing CASUAL LESSONS, however, each lesson is $40 per half hr and you will not have a secured time slot. For music students to progress well in their musical studies, a level of commitment is required, as having sporadic lessons rarely result in adequate musical progress. Attending regular weekly lessons is the most effective way for students to progress readily each and every week.


3. What happens if I am sick, or going away on holidays?

If you are sick, we require notification by at least midday of the lesson day, along with a doctor’s certificate or supporting documents in order to be granted a makeup lesson. Please call 0450 144 399 to notify us of any impending absence. A missed lesson is still charged as per usual, and a makeup alternate time will be organised if granted a makeup. It is up to the student to attend the makeup lesson scheduled at the availability of the teacher, as no credits will be made for missed lessons. Please note that students will only be granted 1 makeup lesson per term, as continual cancellations are a strain on the business and a teachers working day. If going away on an extended holiday, we require as much notice before hand as possible for us to put lessons on hold and reserve your timeslot. In order for us to reserve your spot for an extended period of no more than 4 weeks, we require a non refundable holding deposit equivalent to one week lesson which can be used as lesson payment for your return lesson.


4. What happens if my teacher is sick and unable to attend lessons?

In the rare event that your teacher is unfit to conduct lessons, we will notify you of any changes via sms and have one of our experienced and fully qualified teachers replacing the teacher and conducting lessons as per usual. If in the unlikely event that we are unable to get a suitable replacement teacher to conduct lessons for that day, we will notify you by sms of cancellation. You will not be charged for a cancelled lesson, either a makeup will be scheduled during school holidays, or a credit given to you.


5. Is my teacher qualified, and do they hold child protection certificates?

It is a requirement for all teachers to gain employment at JumboNote Music School to be fully qualified with either a Bachelors Degree in Music & Performance, or an AMUS or BMUS qualification through A.M.E.B or similar musical institution. All employees at JumboNote Music School have child protection certificates.


6. Does JumboNote Music School provide performance opportunities for students?

We pride ourselves on our performance based tuition, and provide all students with a minimum of one recital per term at our very own performance venue in Beverly Hills (Studio B). We encourage all students to participate in all performances, as performing is a great way to increase confidence in playing your instrument.
