Teacher, pianist, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, Juan Alvear began his life in music at age 8. By age 17 he was regularly performing in nation wide festivals, pubs and nightclubs. On September 11, 2011, he relesead his first musical album “Despertar”, and because of this, he was nominated as “Best Contemporary Pianist of the Year” by the magazine Subterranica on 2012. Juan obtained his Bachelor Degree in Music Education from University of Valle on 2014, where he obtained the first G.P.A three times, and the second G.P.A two times. He was a founding member and director of the band “Khymerah” (2005-2012). He was also a key member of several pioneering salsa orchestras like “Son y Sabor”(12 piece band), which won the second place in “Metropolis – Compartiendo territorios), a state-wide musical competition on 2014. Currently he plays with several Sydney-based bands like Club Habana Band, Lorenzo y su Swing Trio, Cumbia Muffin, Malo Malo, Azadoota, and he is founder and director of two new bands: “Juan Pachanga y su Sonido Bestial” and “Pachanga Rock”.
Due to his wide musical experience Juan is a versatile teacher who can teach you a wide range of musical genres and several instruments, including piano, vocals, guitar, bass and drums.
